A Series of Shootings Related to Drug Trafficking in 3 Days, Kills 2 People Including a 10-Year-Old Boy. An 18-year-old boy was shot dead in the city of Nimes, southern France . The incident comes days after a 10-year-old boy was killed by gunshots in an attack linked to drug trafficking. Both shootings took place in the Pissevin area of the city which has been plagued by drug violence. The first victim, named Fayed, was shot dead on Monday 21/8/2023 night while he was in the car with his uncle. In the latest attack. the teenage victim was ambushed several streets away.
Local prosecutor Cécile Gensac said the 10-year-old had the misfortune of being
in the wrong place at the wrong time just before midnight on Monday (21/8/2023). Quoted by the BBC, Fayed was shot just 100 meters from his home in Pissevin. His family had no ties to drug gangs and had no contact with the authorities. Police believed his uncle’s Renault Clio had been mistakenly linked by the killers to another shooting and Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin spoke of a revenge attack between drug dealers. Nîmes Mayor Jean-Paul Fournier said he was saddened and revolted by the child’s death and police dispatched an elite team of CRS8 to beef up security.N The CR8 has been deployed 100km 60 miles to the south in Marseille, where the drug war has claimed many lives in less than a month.
