Paris Fashion Week Despite the fact that many participants were worn out from a demanding season of shows. In New York, London, and Milan—and because the weather in each destination was unpredictable the atmosphere was lively.
Paris turned out to be no exception. In some locations, invites served as improvised fans, and some attendees brought portable electric fans to stay cool. Short bursts of rain were a pleasant relief from the oppressive heat. These turned out to be a really wise option for an accessory, especially for events that ran late—some by nearly an hour. (Or, put another way, not simply ostentatiously late.) To be honest, the throngs of fashionistas assemble outside had something to do with the tardiness.
Paris Fashion Week
Firstly, There was near pandemonium at some of the larger events, with people in the masses seemingly in danger of being ran over by cars.
Secondly, This season, there was a lot of excitement around designers making their Parisian debuts. These designers include Ann Demeulemeester’s Stefano Gallici, who was name the brand’s new creative director in June, Francesco Risso of Marni, and Peter Do, who had just shown.
After the show, Do remark that Paris a dream come true. I wanted to create garments that befit my mature sense of style and I think Paris is the ideal location for the 32 year old PD sensibility.
However, there were also heartfelt farewells. Sarah Burton’s departure from Alexander McQueen, the fashion brand where she had dedicated her whole career, was one of the most poignant. After serving as Lee McQueen’s right hand for many years, Burton assumed the role of creative director for the company upon his unexpected death. Large-scale woven textiles by Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz, with intricate knitwear and perfectly tailor fitted blazers with cut outs reminiscent of previous McQueen designs, were arranged around the room as a backdrop for the show. The dresses feature rose print silk, intricate knitwear, and impeccable tailoring.
