FIBA World Cup 2023 on The United States and Spain basketball teams are the two newest teams to have confirmed their place in the Second Round of the FIBA World Cup 2023 or the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup on Monday, 28 August 2023. Both of them qualified after winning second in their respective groups.
The United States and Spain. Winners of the last four World Cups join Canada. Germany. Latvia. Lithuania and Montenegro. Who have already qualified. A total of seven teams have already reached the next stage of the competition.
The following are the teams that have qualified to reach the second round of the FIBA World Cup 2023.
Spanish
Defending champions Spain have never finished outside the top 10 of a World Cup. They had the chance to extend their successive quarter-final appearances to seven with a 96-78 win over Brazil in Group G. Spain beat Ivory Coast 94-64 in their opener.
United States of America
The US won the big fight with Greece 109-81. The Americans, who beat New Zealand 99-72 in their opener, had four players scoring in double figures and five players scoring eight against Greece.
Canada
Canada crushed France in the second half of their first game. then broke the record for most assists in a World Cup match with 44 assists as it Lebanon 128 73. This is the first time that has reach the last 16 since 2002.
German
After a win over Japan, Germany cruised past Australia 85-82 to secure a spot in Group E. Germany, led by star guard Dennis Schroder. Have made amends for their 2019 World Cup mistake when they fail to progress from the first round.
Latvia
The debut team of Latvia reached the second round of their first World Cup. The northern European team started their journey with their first win over Lebanon. Latvia won over France with a score of 88-86 in Group H. Latvias victory also knock France out of the title race.
Lithuania
Lithuania has reached the top 16 at the World Cup for the fifth year in a row. They qualified after beating Mexico 96-66 in Group D. Lithuania will not be happy with only reaching the second round as they have reached the quarter-finals four times, including placing third in 2010 and finishing fourth in 2014.
Montenegro
Montenegro will face Lithuania for top spot in Group D. beat Egypt 89-74 after picking up a win over Mexico 91-71 in their opener.
Seven teams dropped out of title contention. France, Finland, Lebanon, Egypt, Iran, Jordan and Mexico were out of the FIBA World Cup 2023 early.
